Use Divorcepath in Microsoft Word
Divorcepath for Word lets you open, edit, and save Divorcepath documents directly inside Microsoft Word while staying connected to the same client profile, financial data, and document library you use in the browser.
This guide covers the basics of installing the add-in, signing in, and understanding how document editing, recalculation, and client-profile sync work inside Word.
System requirements
To use the add-in, you will need:
- An active Divorcepath account with access to documents
- A supported Microsoft Word environment on desktop or Office on the web
- Permission to install Office add-ins in your Microsoft 365 environment
- An internet connection so the add-in can sync with Divorcepath
Install the add-in
- Open Microsoft Word.
- Go to Insert and choose Add-ins.
- Open the Office add-in store and search for Divorcepath.
- Select the add-in and choose Add.
- Reopen Word if needed so the Divorcepath button appears.
If your organization manages Office add-ins centrally, your administrator may deploy the add-in for you.
Sign in and open the task pane
- Open Word and launch the Divorcepath task pane from the ribbon.
- Sign in with your Divorcepath account.
- Select a client profile or open a Divorcepath document.
Once you are signed in, the task pane gives you access to the active document, the related client profile, and available document tools.
What you can do in Word
- Open Divorcepath documents without leaving Word
- Edit agreements, court forms, and financial statements in a familiar environment
- Save changes back to Divorcepath
- Reset fields from the current client profile when needed
- Regenerate supported forms from the same template and data
- Recalculate supported financial documents after data changes
Document tools
When a Divorcepath document is open, the task pane shows tools for saving, copying, regenerating, and reviewing the client data used in the document. These tools help keep the document aligned with the current matter record.
In supported tables and financial schedules, Divorcepath can also create or remove rows tied to underlying financial items.
Automatic recalculation
Supported financial documents can recalculate totals and related values inside Word after you update the underlying information. This is especially helpful when working on financial statements and related schedules.
After recalculation, review the results before finalizing or filing the document. Divorcepath helps keep the document current, but counsel remains responsible for confirming accuracy.
Client profile access
The add-in lets you review and update client-profile information from inside Word. That means the same client details, financial items, and document metadata stay connected across calculations, forms, and drafting.
Create new documents
From the client’s document list in the task pane, you can create a new document from an available Divorcepath template. New documents are generated from the current client data and saved back to the same client file.
Troubleshooting
If the task pane does not open, the add-in is missing, or recalculation is not working as expected:
- confirm you are signed in
- confirm the add-in is installed and enabled
- restart Microsoft Word
- confirm your internet connection is active
- reinstall the add-in if needed
