Professional Bio
Alyssa was born in Kitchener, Ontario and raised in Paris, Ontario. In 2012, Alyssa received her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Sociology with Distinction from Wilfrid Laurier University. She then studied law at the University of Ottawa, where she completed courses in a variety of areas of law, including courses in wills and estates, family law, and real estate. She volunteered with the University of Ottawa Association of Women and the Law and was a part of the executive team for the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund’s Ottawa Branch. She also had the privilege of completing summer work and in family law with law firms in Kitchener and Ottawa, respectively.
Desiring to return to the Kitchener-Waterloo area upon graduating cum laude with her Juris Doctor in 2016, Alyssa completed her articles under a reputable sole practitioner, gaining knowledge and experience in all areas of the firm’s practice, including will and estates, family law, and real estate. After being called to the Bar in June, 2017, she remained working for the sole practitioner she articled with, eager to continue her professional development and rewarding work assisting clients with the invaluable support and mentorship of her former Articling Principal.
In 2019, after Alyssa’s employer was appointed as a Judge to the Unified Family Court of the Superior Court of Justice, Alyssa, with the help of her team of law clerks, commenced her own practice, focusing on wills and estates, family law, and real estate.
Alyssa is a member of the Waterloo Law Association and in her spare time, Alyssa enjoys the company of her family and friends, summer trips to Sauble Beach, and spoiling her dogs.
