Use this guide when Microsoft 365 repository locations are connected but users still cannot link matters, save documents, or create later versions successfully.
1. The matter cannot be linked to a repository
Check whether the selected Microsoft 365 location is marked as allowed for your organization. Synced locations are not automatically available to end users until they are explicitly approved.
2. A linked matter cannot save documents
Confirm that Microsoft 365 repository access is still connected for the organization and that the linked repository location remains allowed. If the linked library was removed from the allowlist after the matter was connected, users may lose the ability to save files there.
3. Divorcepath says the location is missing Microsoft drive information
This usually means the linked location is incomplete or stale. Re-sync repository locations, confirm the library is still allowed, and re-link the matter to an approved Microsoft 365 location.
4. The first save fails
The first repository save creates the external Microsoft 365 file reference. If it fails, check:
- the matter is linked to an approved location
- the integration is fully connected, not still pending consent
- the selected location is a library or folder, not just a SharePoint site
5. Creating a new version fails
A document must already exist in Microsoft 365 before Divorcepath can create a new version. If you see a versioning error, save the document to Microsoft 365 once first, then try the version action again.
6. A location synced successfully but users still cannot choose it
Review the allowlist. A synced location may appear to administrators but still be unavailable to general users unless it has been explicitly approved.
7. Repository status falls into error after a failed save
Divorcepath records write failures on the repository integration so administrators can see when Microsoft 365 writeback is not healthy. Review the most recent error, confirm the linked matter and allowed location are still valid, then retry the save.
8. What to collect before contacting support
- the matter or client file involved
- the approved Microsoft 365 location that should have been used
- whether the failure happened on the first save or on a later version
- the exact error message shown in Divorcepath
If repository saves or versions continue to fail after you confirm the matter link and location allowlist, contact Divorcepath support at [email protected].
