Divorcepath makes it easy to generate court forms that are automatically populated with your client's information. With a searchable library of hundreds of up-to-date forms across Canadian jurisdictions, you can produce the correct form in seconds rather than manually entering data into templates.
Navigating to Court Forms
To create a new court form:
- Open the client file for the matter you are working on.
- Navigate to the Documents tab within the client file.
- Click the New Document button.
- Select Court Form as the document type.
Selecting Jurisdiction and Court
After selecting Court Form, you will be prompted to choose the jurisdiction and court level for your form. Divorcepath supports forms across Canadian provinces and territories, including both provincial and federal courts. Use the dropdown menus to narrow the available forms to your specific jurisdiction and court.
Browsing and Searching Form Templates
Once you have selected a jurisdiction and court, the form library will display all available templates. You can:
- Browse the list of forms organized by category and form number.
- Search by form name, number, or keyword to quickly locate the form you need.
- Filter by form type to narrow results further.
The library includes hundreds of forms, so the search function is often the fastest way to find the right template.
Selecting and Generating the Form
To generate your form:
- Click on the form template you wish to use.
- Review the form details to confirm it is the correct document.
- Click Create Document to generate the form.
Divorcepath will automatically populate the form with data from the client profile, including party names, addresses, children's information, financial details, and other relevant data. This eliminates the need for manual data entry and reduces the risk of errors.
Reviewing and Customising the Document
After the form is generated, you can review the auto-populated content to ensure accuracy. If any sections need to be adjusted, you can:
- Open the document in the built-in Document Editor to make changes directly in your browser.
- Use the Sections panel in the editor to show or hide optional sections of the form.
- Use the Data panel to review and update the field values that were mapped from the client profile.
Opening or Downloading the Form
Once your form has been generated, you have several options:
- Open in Editor — click on the document to open it in the Divorcepath Document Editor for further editing and review.
- Download as DOCX — download the form as a Word document to edit in Microsoft Word or another word processor.
- Export as PDF — export the form as a PDF for filing or sharing.
The generated form will be saved to the client file's Documents tab, where you can access it at any time.
